Interview with Blair Fowler [Juicystar07]

For those who aren't familiar with Blair Fowler, or Juicystar07, she is a beauty guru on YouTube, Seventeen magazine Beauty Smartie, youngest make-up artist to work at New York Fashion Week, and much more. And last week I got the opportunity to ask her a few questions about YouTube, fashion, and Serena Van Der Woodsen from Gossip Girl.

I know you've probably been asked this question so many times but a lot of my readers wonder how you started making YouTube videos?
My sister, Elle, started her YouTube videos in the summer of 2008 and kept telling me how much fun it was. That Christmas I was given a webcam and began to really focus on my channel. I have been loving it ever since!

What was it like when you met your first subscriber in real life? Was it a bit surreal or were you totally chill about it?
I did not even realize I had met a subscriber the first time it happened! We were both at the MAC counter the day of the Hello Kitty collection launch and in awe at all the products. We started chatting, but it wasn't until later that I received an email saying she was too embarrassed to tell me at the counter about how much she loved my videos.

The first time a subscriber came up to me, and announced herself as an actual subscriber, was very surreal. When she asked to take a picture, I did not know what to do- I said "with who"?

What is your favorite makeup brand? What are your must-have makeup products?
I have a lot of favorite make-up brands. My all time favorites are MAC, NYX, Laura Mercier and Urban Decay. My must have make-up products are Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, Nars Powder Foundation, and Maybelline Falsies Mascara.
__
What are your top tips for girls who are still starting/experimenting with makeup?
4. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE…and don't be afraid to try new things.
__
I know that you went to NYC fashion week. What was it like being the youngest makeup artist working in the tents and what was it like making your runway debut?
NYC Fashion Week was an event I never thought that I would experience and I definitely soaked in every moment. My runway debut at the Pete Wentz Clandestine show was one of the most 'nerve racking' and 'heart pounding' moments of my life.

I love that you can celebrate outer beauty with makeup and fashion but I love it even more that you promote self-confidence and inner beauty to your subscirbers. Is it hard to stay confident and sane in the world of hateful comments from faceless people on the Internet? And what tips do you have for my readers who might experience poor self esteem or bullies in their real lives?
There was a time when I used to allow the hateful comments to really affect me, but to be honest it no longer even phases me. This type of hate exists in everyday life and I really think that my readers should keep their heads up, trying their hardest to move forward because things will always get better.
__
And as this is a fashion blog, here are a few style questions. How would you describe your style in three words or less?
In three words, my style is: Trendy, Feminine and Edgy

Ever have a style moment that you look back on and wonder what you were thinking?
Uh…Hello! Wearing a flower girl dress to my first grade class- I have never lived it down.
__
If you could have any celebrity's closet, whose would it be?
I heard Victoria Beckham has a one million dollar handbag collection…that would be nice! I would also like to raid Selena Gomez’s closest, I love her classic style.
__
I know from watching your videos that you are a complete movie and TV buff. Who is your favorite fashionista on TV or the big screen?
Blake Lively as Serena Van Der Woodsen on Gossip Girl.

Check out Blair's main YouTube channel for beauty/fashion videos. Also don't forget to check out her second channel for more personal vlogs.

Exclusive Interview with Janet Evanovich

Today I have the incredible honor of posting a quick interview I got to do with Janet Evanovich. Yes, New York Times best-selling author, Janet Evanovich. Most people know her as the author of the wildly popular Stephanie Plum series which is being made into a movie featuring Katherine Heigl. Today we talked about fashion, Cheez Doodles, and favorite funny moments. Enjoy!

How do you create stories that have me and the rest of your loyal audience literally laughing out loud at Stephanie Plum's antics?
I guess I'm a little twisted. It helps to have characters so out there that no matter how outrageous the story line, it seems to make sense for them to be in it up to their eyeballs.
__
Production is going to start on the new Stephanie Plum movie soon. What was your reaction to hearing that Katherine Heigl has agreed to play your iconic character?
Actually, the movie was filmed last summer and it's in post production now. I sold the movie rights something like 18 years ago, so it's really been out of my hands. I liked Heigl in 27 Dresses.
__
Anything you can us about the upcoming Stephanie Plum novel? Are there any plans for the series to come to an end? Please tell us no!
First of all, there's no plan to end the series any time soon. I don't want to give too much away about Smokin' Seventeen other than to say that a man from Stephanie's past comes back to town.
__
What is something we would be surprised to know about your life as a Best Selling Author?
I work in my sweats and get orange Cheez Doodle dust on my keyboard.
__
I know this might be a tough question but what is your favorite Stephanie Plum moment? Funny or serious?
Gosh, there have been so many. A good one was in Sizzling Sixteen when she and Lula allowed all the cattle to escape from the meat company. I like the funny moments.
__
And as this is a fashion blog, do you consider yourself a fashionista? How would you describe your style?
I don't think I have a style. Mostly I'm in jeans and a t-shirt. Although I do enjoy dressing the jeans and t-shirt up with a pair of gold Chanel flats.

Thanks for reading. Check out Janet Evanovich's website for more information. Also look out for my review of Evanovich's book, Twelve Sharp on my second blog. Thanks for reading and don't forget to follow!

Interview with Dana Ward from ClevverTV

I am so excited about today's post! Recently I interviewed Joslyn from ClevverTV and now I get to talk with her co-host, Danna Ward. This woman is a powerhouse--acting as Producer/Host/Writer for the incredibly successful entertainment news show. Plus, she has time to be a total fashionista. I really don't know how she does it.

Describe your style in three words or less.
Colorful, eclectic, fun
__
Dana, how does Joslyn's style differ from yours?
I think Joslyn is really good with staying up-to-date on current trends and she’s open to try any new style.
__--
You guys are always up to the date with all things pop culture but I'm wondering if you could have any celebrity's closet, who would it be?
I love the clothes worn by Selena Gomez. She always look fashionable, but in a classic, never going out of style sort of way. That’s probably why she recently got a spread in InStyle Magazine!!! Plus, I often love the looks of Blake Lively, on and off of Gossip Girl. Geez, at that point, sign me up for Leighton Meester’s looks on the show too!
__
If money were no option, what designer or brand would you live in?
I’d want to continue sampling from all different brands. Some of my faves include Alice + Olivia, BCBG and Tory Burch. I’d prob want to splurge on high end, statement pieces, like a Marchesa gown or a Hermes Birkin bag. That being said, I’d still get my t-shirts from Target!
--
What is your favorite piece in your closet at the moment? And what is that piece in the store or on the runway that you've had your eye on?
I’m totally loving my grey suede military heel boots by Sam Edelman. I would love to get a bold, multi-colored, flowy maxi dress for this spring/summer season – perhaps Pucci-inspired? – because it’s comfy yet still stylish. But since we’ve just wrapped the awards season, I’ve got designer gowns on my mind. Can we say Atelier Versace, Marchesa and Oscar de la Renta?!
--
Have you ever worn something only to look back on it and wonder what you were thinking?
Here at ClevverTV, we go through so many wardrobe changes that I often look at video stories and wonder why I chose to wear such a thing… even as recent as last week! I think that it’s important to care about your fashions when they matter to you… not everyone else. Also, I remember that I regret wearing sandals in the Chicago snow just because we were all obsessed with them from the fall. I mean, beauty aka fashion can be pain, but that was just plain stupid; frostbite for fashion is not a good tradeoff.
__
How starstruck were you when you interviewed your first celebrity? Do you still get nervous before a big interview?
I think that as an interviewer, it’s easy to see that a celebrity is just another person who happens to be very talented and recognized for their efforts, so there’s no need to be nervous!! That being said, I think it’s normal to sometimes feel some butterflies, but that just means that you’re on top of your game.
--
Who was your favorite person to interview?
I can’t pick just one person!!! Interviews at ClevverTV are all fun and it doesn’t even seem like work. I’d say that right this second, some of my fave stars to interview include Ashley Argota, Shay Mitchell and Mindless Behavior.
__
What was it like when the first time you got recognized in public?
All of the ClevverTV viewers have been so sweet and friendly when we’ve run into them in public. I’m still really surprised when someone says my name and links it up to ClevverTV. We have so many viewers out there and it’s really amazing that everyone is so supportive of the show!
__
How did ClevverTV start and what does the future hold? Is there anything that you can tell us about upcoming interviews or projects?
We’ll definitely continue to get exclusive interviews with your fave celebs. Stay tuned for even bigger talents visiting the ClevverTV studio. We can’t wait!

Be sure to check out ClevverTV! Tell Dana and Joslyn I sent you. Also stop by Dana's more personal channel and follow her on Twitter. I am. Check out the interview I did with Dana's co-host, Joslyn.

Interview with Brittani Louise Taylor

Yay! It's Brittani Louise Taylor! If you are unaware, BLT is an amazing vlogger/comedian who makes videos on YouTube. She is always so positive and FUNNY! This girl never fails to make me laugh. Check out her videos, you won't be disappointed!

I'm sure you've been asked this so many times, but how did you start making YouTube videos?
My mom actually encouraged me to start uploading videos. I was with an independent studio, and the studio closed, so I took my show to Youtube!
__
What are the best/worst things about being a YouTuber and the YouTube community?
The best thing is the community. I love all the friends I have made through the site! Worst thing, the hours! I don't sleep much, because it takes a lot to film and edit two videos a week, but so worth it!
__
I love how upbeat and classy you are in all of your videos. And not mention, you're incredibly funny. How do you stay so positive?
Being positive is a choice. I have my down moments or bad days just like anyone else, but I choose to put a smile on my face and go forward!
__
You got to meet Nicholas Sparks and I was so jealous! What was that like? And what books do you like to read in your spare time?
He is a very nice guy, and down to earth! I was surprised! Currently I am not reading anything, because I haven't had a spare moment. Any suggestions? :P
__
The first BLT video that I ever watched was Lady Gaga Fashionista. How did you keep a straight face in those outfits? They were insane!
We have a lot of takes of me laughing, especially with the gun bra. But the key to comedy is to know where the joke is, and forget about it. You have to be serious with the line to be funny, not go for the joke!
__
Speaking of fashion, how would you describe your style? And other than Lady Gaga, of course, which celebrity closet would love to have access to?
My style is cute casual I guess? I like to wear a lot of jeans and tank tops, but I spice it up with funky jewelery! I would love to have access to Taylor Swifts closet. She has amazing style!
__
If money were no option, what brands or designers would you live in?
I really like Dolce and Gabbana, there stuff is always funky but feminine, I dig.
__
What makes Brittani Louise Taylor so awesome? And thank you for taking and answering my questions!
LOL no clue, but I love you? :P
__
Brittani Louise Taylor is amazing! Please check out her website, give her a shout out on Twitter, or stop by her second YouTube channel. I was so honored to do this interview with her and I hope you guys enjoyed it. I know I did!

Interview with Joslyn Davis from ClevverTV

Hello, lovely ladies. Today's post is featuring an exclusive interview with Joslyn Davis most well-known for her work hosting/producing/writing for ClevverTV on YouTube or hosting Project Runway Backstage. She's so talented and I was honored that I got the chance to talk with her.

Okay, let's start with an easy one. Describe your style in three words or less.
California comfort trendy
__
Joslyn, how is Dana's [your co-host from Clevver TV] style different from yours?
We both are the type of people are who willing to try new trends. I love Dana's style, and her similar obsession with accessories. I love how she always looks chic and put together even when she's super casual.
__
You guys are always up to the date with all things pop culture but I'm wondering if you could have any celebrity's closet, who would it be?
Vanessa Hudgens, Gwen Stefani, Nicole Richie

If money were no option, what designer or brand would you live in?
Citizen of Humanity, DL 1961, Chanel, Rebecca Taylor, Catherine Malandrino
__
What is your favorite piece in your closet at the moment? And what is that piece in the store or on the runway that you've had your eye on?
Obsessed with my J-Brand Hoolihan skinny cargos still. Love premium denim, boots, dresses for all seasons. Really dying for a Chanel bag!

I think every dreams of having a Chanel bag. But have you ever worn something only to look back on it and wonder what you were thinking?
Not really. I wear weird stuff from time to time, but trying stuff out is the only way to see if it works on your body. I had a tragic look at Winter Formal in High School, but I still totally own it. Honestly though, it was horrible.
__
How starstruck were you when you interviewed your first celebrity? Do you still get nervous before a big interview?
Sometimes I get excited/anxious, but I don't tend to get too nervous or starstruck. When you see a famous person face-to-face it really takes away that barrier. They're all people just like the rest of us...they just live extraordinary lives that make them interesting in a different, more public way.

That's so true. Since you don't get nervous, who was your favorite person to interview?
So many, but I still think that Tim Gunn sticks out for me. I love that man. He is simply amazing.
__
What was it like when the first time you got recognized in public?
Well, honestly, that doesn't really happen. The only times I've been recognized by viewers or fans of the show is when I've been working. I absolutely love meeting people who watch the show and it's so flattering to know that people enjoy what we do.
__
How did ClevverTv start and what does the future hold? Is there anything that you can tell us about upcoming interviews or projects?
ClevverTV started about 3 years ago and has seen a progressive growth since then. We have tons of great content coming down the pipeline, and we're getting very excited about Prom coverage.

Check out ClevverTv for up to the date news on all things celebrity and pop culture! And if that's not enough, also stop by Joslyn's blog and her more personal channel!

Interview with Melissa de la Cruz: Author of the Blue Blood Series

I don't think I have ever been this excited for a blog post. I got the wonderful opportunity to interview the lovely, Ms. Melissa de la Cruz, most commonly known as the author of the wildly popular Blue Bloods Series. Her newest book, Bloody Valentine, was just released and I love it! Be sure to keep an eye open for a review in the next couple days. Isn't the cover stunning?

Which of the four girls [Deming, Bliss, Schuyler, or Mimi] is most like you?
They all have parts of me. Schuyler has a lot of my high school misery, a lot of my experiences I gave her, and her voice is very close to mine. Mimi is a lot like me when I "grew up." She says a lot of things that I think but never say. :) I also very much identify with the villain, so I love writing Mimi, she comes naturally to me. Bliss and Deming probably have less of my personality. I wanted to write about someone who was popular but felt like a misfit, from a good friend of mine who said she was popular in high school but she never felt like it. She always felt like a loser, which was so interesting to me. Deming is a badass, she's tough and no-nonsense, but her pride and arrogance and confidence are from me too - I definitely get into the "I'm always right" mode but then you find out you are so, so wrong... so that was cool writing her story. I love my girls, they're all part of me, and I care very much for their growth.
__
When did you decided that Bliss was going to have her own spin off series, Wolf Pact?
When I wrote Bliss's arc from the beginning, I knew her background, and I thought it would be nice for her to redeem herself in this manner - and I have a lot of affection for Bliss, her story "ends" in Blue Bloods a bit, but a new chapter is open to her in Wolf Pact.
__
This might be a bit of a spoiler alert for some readers--but you seem to have no qualms about killing off a character or two. [I won't name names] What makes you realize that it is the right time for a character?
Death is part of life, and grief, and dealing with death, especially in the story I'm writing, is part of it. You can't write about vampires and angels and demons and not have a body count. :) Some deaths I've known from the beginning and some were surprises. Sometimes a character knows too much and so he or she has to go. :)
__
Also on that same note: Is there any chance that there will be a return of characters we thought were dead?
Wolf Pact brings back some of the characters since Bliss and the hellhounds travel back in time, so yes. They're back but only in the past. None of my characters will come back in the future. Dead is dead in my world. Otherwise, nothing has resonance.
__
I heard in an interview that you like to read cookbooks. Is this true?
I like to read cooking memoirs! :) Anything by Ruth Reichl, Anthony Bourdain, Julie Powell, I'm there. I like memoirs period. I just read the Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother. So now I'm interested in mom memoirs. momoirs!
__
Mimi is such a fascinating character. One minute you despise her and then the next, you're on her side. Is it harder to write a character that is so complex?
No, Mimi is the easiest character to write! :) Schuyler is much harder for me - I'm very protective of Schuyler. Mimi is a lot of fun and she was easy to write from the very beginning.
__
When will we be seeing Blue Bloods on the big or small screen?
Not anytime soon. I've turned down a lot of offers. I kind of like just writing the books for now. We'll see what happens, if the right opportunity arises, I'm open to it.
__
What are the differences between writing for Harper's Bazaar and writing the Blue Bloods Series?
Well, I mean that's just completely two different types of writing. When you write for a magazine, you write for the magazine's voice and readership. Your editor has a huge part in shaping the story, you're almost just a writer-for-hire, and you need to make sure your story fits the magazine's overall tone. It's more of a "job" let's say. Whereas Blue Bloods is a narrative, and it's pure play. I get to write about whatever I want, and I have the final decision on everything. It's my story, my book and my editor and publisher help me tell the story I want to write. It's awesome. I liked writing for magazines, but I love writing books.
__
And as this is a fashion blog here a few girly questions. If you could steal any celebrity's closet who would it be?
When I was younger Kate Moss was my biggest inspiration, but now I'm a mom, I really like Gwyneth Paltrow's wardrobe. Very minimal and mom friendly. I'm a fan of Goop!
__
How would you describe each of the main girl's fashion sense?
Schuyler: boho chic, Mimi: spoiled socialite style, Bliss: All-American sweetheart, Deming: venator black.
++
In a fantasy world where money is not a factor. Jimmy Choo or Christian Louboutin?
Louboutin, all the way. You can't go wrong with the red sole!

Keep an eye out for Melissa's next book, Witches of East End, which you can pre-order on Amazon.com. If you want more Melissa de la Cruz check out her website and her oh, so fashionable shopping diary.
