 I had so much fun writing my review for the Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Heavenly fragrance, I went straight to my perfume collection and picked out another scent to review. I chose something that I've had around for a while but haven't talked much about on the blog. Like almost all of the perfumes I won, SJP NYC was a gift from my sister. What attracted me to this scent was NOT the packaging. Because let's be honest, the packaging is really ugly. Carrie Bradshaw would not have let this happen! What happened?

 But thankfully for my decor, the gaudy plastic packaging on the outside can come off to reveal a simple clear bottle on the inside. Unfortunately, the bottle on the inside is rather plain and underwhelming. I don't know who approved the design of the bottle. It's very confusing.

SJP NYC is such a sweet, whimsical, and youthful scent. Oddly enough, the smell sort of reminds me of something that Carrie Bradshaw would wear while she's walking the streets of New York. The top notes: strawberries, Italian mandarin, and white osmanthus. Middle notes: gardenia, honeysuckle, and mimosa. Bottom notes: rum flavor, sandalwood, creamy musk. 

I've had this fragrance for years but (as you could probably tell from the pictures) I haven't used much of it. It's weird because this is a scent that I love smelling in the bottle but I don't like it as much when I wear it on my skin. Sometimes I spray it in my room but this fragrance doesn't get a lot of use. But I still really love it. I just wished that it mixed with my personal chemistry better. 

And that's the end of my review. It's weird. I've only done a handful of fragrance reviews but lately I've been really, really enjoying writing these. So, I think I'll try to make these types of posts a more regular part of my blog and I'm really excited.

Wow! Smelling this scent brings me back to high school. People say that memory and scent are closely linked but it kind of scary how true that is. I can remember the exact day when we walked into the Victoria's Secret at our local mall and my sister bought this perfume. *Sniff* Ah, so many memories. It's crazy.

Victoria's Secret has three scents in the Dream Angels line: Kiss, Blush, and the one I own, Heavenly. Heavenly is definitely the cleanest of the three. According to Victoria's Secret the notes in this scent are "white musk, sandalwood, vanilla, and white peony". I definitely smell the white musk and the vanilla. But oddly enough, these scents combined together smell a lot like soap. Which doesn't sound sexy or luxurious at all. Dream Angels Heavenly isn't one of those scents. It's something that's fresh and light and clean.

I really, really didn't like it when my sister first bought it. But after all these years, it's got a special place in my heart. My sister doesn't wear it anymore but I like to spritz it on every know and again when I'm feeling nostalgic. 

So, that is my review for the Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Heavenly Fragrance. I hope it was informative. I also hope that you enjoyed the pictures that I took with the orange flowers from my mom's garden. I wasn't sure how they would turn out but I think they look great. Hopefully, you do too.

Philosophy Falling in Love Fragrance

 For today's post, we're going to take a walk down memory lane. Growing up my mom loved Philosophy fragrances. And I mean LOVED. Unfortunately, I used to think that almost all of the Philosophy fragrances smelled really, really bad. Thankfully, in recent years she's found other scents that tinkle her fancy but she still sprays on Falling in Love every once in a while. And it brings back so many memories. A few weeks ago I was trying to decide which fragrance to bring with me on my trip to Portland, Oregon and I came across this one. It's an oldie but a goodie.

Philosophy describes the scent as "sun-ripened blackberry [that] captivates the senses, smooth, sparkling jasmine inspires romance and vanilla melts deliciously over your skin". I do think that this smell is a very whimsical and romantic fragrance. It isn't sexy but rather something to wear when you're in the mood for PG-13 romantic comedy kind of romance. It is very light and gentle smell.

I would definitely categorize Falling in Love as a day-time fragrance. It's simple and unobtrusive. I'm normally very particular when it comes to fragrance packaging but there is something about the sleek and minimalist packaging of this scent that I really like. The packaging is very reflective of the scent inside. Falling in Love isn't a loud or gaudy fragrance so why should the packaging be?

The price of a 2 fl oz. bottle of Falling in Love costs $44. Which isn't terribly expensive for a fragrance. If you like the scent but don't want to spend so much money, Philosophy does offer a .5 fl oz. bottle for $15. And honestly, I think that that is probably the best way to go. I've had this one for years and I'm only half-way through. I don't know if I'll ever finish this bottle. But, if I do, I'll probably go with the smaller version.

I know it's not October yet but...I'm already so ready for Halloween. I'm scouring the internet for the best and cutest ways to make Halloween themed food. I'm burning Halloween themed candles. And I'm wearing Halloween (also known as pumpkin) themed body spray. I think I have a problem. A pumpkin problem. It's very serious and I'm seeking help. But in the mean time, I'm going to be talking all about this fragrance mist from Bath & Body Works.

In high school I, almost exclusively, wore Bath & Body Works fragrances. But then I started collecting fragrances like a cat lady collects cats and it became a problem. I had so many fragrances but I wasn't using them up. So for about two or three years I've been on a fragrance ban. I normally get a perfume for my birthday or Christmas from my sister but I don't actively go out and purchase scents for myself. Until Bath & Body Works "Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin". 

For those of you who don't know, I love the candle version of this scent. It's amazing and I burn it all day, everyday when fall comes around. But I also really like the fragrance version of this scent too. Spoiler alert: it smells nothing like the candle (the candle smells more like spice and vanilla) but I still like it.

The scent of the fragrance is very light and yet somehow very apropos for fall. The smell is a blend of pumpkin, crisp apple, and spiced vanilla. I don't smell the spiced vanilla so much as the apple and the pumpkin. The scent isn't very strong (so don't worry about offending your peers with your odor) and it also doesn't last very long. It's a lovely scent but a part of me wishes that it smelled more like the candle. Ah, if only.

A few months ago I was in Victoria's Secret with my sister shopping for a bathing suit when I wandered into the beauty section.*Danger. Danger. Danger.* I started smelling all of Victoria Secret's new fragrances (again danger) when I stumbled across this one--"Pure Daydream". It was love at first smell. I needed a new makeup bag for my trip to Hawaii and when I saw that an adorable naval seafoam makeup bag came with the "Pure Daydream" fragrance, lotion, and shower gel, I knew tat it was fate. I haven't been this obsessed with a Victoria's Secret fragrance since I discovered "Pure Seduction" in high school.

To me, "Pure Daydream" is a young, sweet floral and citrus smell. Which is a semi-accurate description because according to Victoria's Secret, "Pure Daydream" is smells like pearl orchid and pink currant. "Pure Daydream" is not going to be the perfect scent for everyone. Like most Victoria's Secret fragrances, it extremely sweet and potent when first sprayed (but the scent will fade quickly). For the past month or two, I've been wearing nothing but Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh and this fragrance. Daisy Eau So Fresh is light and clean which is the opposite of "Pure Daydream".

 The "Pure Daydream" lotion does a decent job of moisturizing but there are tons of other lotions that do a much better job. It isn't designed for the face and can leave a lightly greasy film on the skin if applied to thickly. However, the lotion outperforms both the fragrance and the shower gel in terms of the lasting power of the scent on your skin. If you want a more potent scent try layering the lotion and the fragrance (although I found that the combo is a bit too strong for me and I prefer to layer the shower gel with the fragrance). I doubt that I'll be repurchasing the lotion in the future but it's something that would be nice to give or receive as a gift.

And finally, the shower gel. I love the Victoria's Secrets shower gels. They're a luxury--they lather extremely well and is a cool and soothing when applied to the skin. I have the shower gel in "Endless Love" and I love it! Like the lotion, I doubt that I would repurchase the shower gel anytime soon. It only takes a month or two to use up the entire bottle (there is a reason why everyone seems to have a shower gel in their empty products videos) and I can't justify buying a new bottle at $10 each month. It's a luxury but not a necessity. But it's a very, very good smelling luxury.

I have a confession. I have an addiction to reading beauty blogs and watching beauty gurus on YouTube. And one of my favorite girls to read/watch is definitely Fleur from fleudeforce.com or youtube.com/fleurdeforce. I especially love reading her Friday Fragrance posts. So I thought I would write one of my own. I don't have much experience with fragrance reviews...so let's hope this goes well.

Flowerbomb is easily one of the most mature scents I own. I wear this scent when I want to feel sophisticated and feminine. My friend in high school used to wear this perfume and that was how I first heard about Flowerbomb. This was during the time that I was just getting into makeup and I was astounded that a perfume could cost so much money ($110 for a 1.7 oz bottle). The price was the main reason that it took me so long to actual become the proud owner of a bottle. For a long time I would just spritz myself whenever I was at Sephora's and enjoy the scent until it faded. In the end, it was worth the wait. 

Flowerbomb not only packs a punch to the sense of smell but also to the sense of sight. It took me many trips to Sephora and a comment from my sister before I noticed that the perfume bottle is inspired by a grenade. I hadn't given the name a second thought but now it all made sense. Flowerbomb is one of the best designed perfumes bottles on the market. It is subtle but powerful, edgy but sophisticated. It is a perfume bottle that would appeal to a wide range of women and I can't get enough. Flowerbomb smells amazing but I also love how it looks on my shelves.

The official notes of the perfume are sambac jasmine, centifolia rose, cattleya orchid, ballerina freesia, and patchouli. This scent is a bit more floral than most of my other perfumes. It is also more of a nighttime scent than most of my other perfumes. It is heavy scent but I find that it becomes significantly softer as the oils of the scent interact with your natural pheromones. But I'm not the only one who loves it. My sister is also a big fan. As are many of Sephora shoppers as Flowerbomb is one of the store's best selling perfumes.

In conclusion, the price keeps me from saying that Flowerbomb is a must have perfume. I loved this scent for a long time before I finally committed. And I think that's the best route to go for most perfumes. They're expensive and it takes forever to get your money's worth. There is one thing I've learned in my years of buying perfume: do your research. Read reviews online, check it out in stores, and make sure it smells good on you (because most perfumes smell different in the bottle vs. on your skin). But I highly recommend that people check out this scent the next time your at a fragrance counter. I love it and I'm not alone. Hopefully you will too.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Gift Set Review + Pictures

 Last week was the 20th anniversary of my birth and I got a few goodies from my loving family. One of the biggest splurge gifts I got was the Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Gift Set which is available at Sephora and here at Sephora.com. I've been lusting after all of the perfumes available from Marc Jacobs for some time now but Daisy Eau So Fresh has had a special place in my heart. I own it in rollerball form and absolutely love it. My sister told me that my dad had actually attempted to buy this for me for Christmas but had accidentally bought the wrong perfume. Better late than never and I am so stoked that I finally have my hands on this bad boy.

I know that many of you are probably asking a good question. What will $82.00 get me at Sephora? Well, the gift set comes with a 75 mL Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Eau De Toilette perfume. The bottle was the thing that first attracted me to this scent. It is so girly and bold. I might have come for the packaging (which is flawless) but I stayed for the scent. The notes of this perfume are raspberry, grapefruit, pear, violet, wild rose, apple blossom, musks, cedarwood, and plum. This retails for $78.00 on its own. 

The gift set also comes with a 75 mL body lotion and bubbly shower gel. The lotion is light and rubs easily into the skin. The scent isn't very potent and doesn't seem to last very long. For these reasons, I tend to wear the lotion and the perfume at the same time. The body wash has a very silky consistency and is surprisingly more fragrant than the lotion. It's very nice but I feel so strange using such a luxurious bath product that I've only used it one time so that I could write this review (and I used a very small amount).

The last thing you get in the gift set is a medium sized makeup bag. It will easily fit the lotion, the perfume, and the body wash. It is made of a cotton-y material and is lined with a water-resistant material. But honestly, I was a bit disappointed. On the back of the box that the gift set comes in, there is a picture of the makeup bag and it looks like it is made up of  something more durable. The canvas-like material will absorb anything that it will come in contact with (be it makeup or liquids or just everyday grime) and will be difficult to clean--especially since the bag is mainly that oatmeal color. 

But even though I am a little disappointed, it is a nice bag. I love the hardware on the zipper. So elegant and thoughtful. The zipper is smooth and easy to use. It is nice but not as sturdy as I was hoping.

Here are a bunch of pictures of the perfume bottle because I think the Marc Jacobs perfumes are easily some of the best designed packaging on the market. Plus, I've been lusting after this thing for a couple years and in my excitement I got a bit photograph happy. I'm realizing that I probably should have a worn a better outfit when I took these pictures because you can totally see me in the bottle's reflection. Disclaimer: it was like Saturday morning when I took this pictures and I was rocking my PJ's.

-Makeup bag material isn't cleaning friendly + flimsy

In conclusion, I think this gift set (and most gift sets available at Sephora) are an excellent value formoney. The perfume alone cost $78 and for only four dollars more you get body lotion, shower gel, and a cute (if flimsy and hard to clean if you get stains on it) bag. Sign me up! It's really a no brainer if you ask me. If you're not a big fan of Daisy Eau De Fresh, I know that Sephora (and other fragrance retailers like Macy's) have tons of these gift sets and will probably have something more to your taste. I plan on doing a more in depth perfume review in the coming weeks. So keep your eyes peeled but I will see you guys tomorrow with another beauty blog post.
