Nicole by OPI "Orna-Ment For Each Other" Swatch + Review

two coats, natural light

*sigh* I probably sound like a broken record at this point but I feel like I have to say it again. Nicole by OPI did an outstanding job with their Holiday Glitter Collection. All four of the polish are fantastic quality and the colors are drool worthy.

This particular shade, is a red polish with medium sized gold and red glitter. Out of all the polishes, I think the color is the most Christmas-y. I'm pretty sure this color is my favorite but I'm sure that will change. I can't seem to make up my mind.

Here is a closer picture. It is a better view of the gold and red glitter. As much as I love OPI, I have to admit that this holiday--with the glitter and Kardashian collections--Nicole by OPI is easily outshining its older sister company. A swatch for the final polish in this collection, "Glitter in My Stocking" will be up soon.

FTC: This polish was given to me for review.

Nicole by OPI "My Sleigh's in the Shop" Swatch + Review

two coats, natural light

Another color from Nicole by OPI's Holiday Glitter Collection. I am officially obsessed with these colors. Each time I apply a polish, I think that I've found a favorite. That is, until I apply another one and my opinion shifts. This color doesn't really scream Christmas but there is no denying that its a beautiful color. Most of the purple polishes I own are much darker or lighter and I find this middle ground polish extremely refreshing. The Holiday Glitter Collection continues to impress me and I've only gotten through two shades. I can't wait to try the other two colors on! I guarantee more swatches will be coming soon. This color applies smoother than Snow-Man of My Dreams. A topcoat isn't completely necessary. *sigh* I know I keep saying this but Nicole by OPI really hit it out of the park with this collection. Simply marvelous.

FTC: These polishes were sent to me for consideration.

Nicole by OPI "Snow-man of My Dreams" Review + Swatch

Two coats, natural light

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, it will soon be the most wonderful time of the year. What does that mean? Glitter nail polish, of course. And Nicole by OPI's newest Glitter Holiday Collection is the perfect remedy for anyone suffering from glitter withdrawal. Swatches of all four colors will be coming soon but as soon as I tried on this shimmery, cool blue I knew that it deserved it's own post.

The glitter in this polish is chunky and gritty. A top coat is needed for a glossy, smooth finish. But as much as I love this color, I have a strong feeling that it won't just chip but remove entire patches of polish with little effort. Quick last minutes warning: I've used this color twice and the polish in the bottle is already starting to get goopy and hard to apply--clumping on the brush. It isn't a huge deal now but it will only get worse as time goes on. Just something to be aware of before buying. *sigh* But I really, really love the color.

P.S. Sorry for the depressing state of my cuticles. With finals week approaching, my nerves are fried.

How To Make Pumpkin Spice Cake Pops

1. Mix together 1/2 cup of unsalter butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 2 large eggs, and 3/4 cup of pumpkin puree

2. Mix together 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of backing soda, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves, and 1/2 teaspoon salt

3. And then mix it all together

5. Put batter in a pie pan

5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (177 degrees C) and cook for 18-20 minutes

6. Take the cake and mix it in with frosting until it easy to mold (similar to the consistency of cookie-dough)

7. Using an ice cream scooper, form the dough into balls

8. Dip the lollipop sticks into melted chocolate and push the stick into the balls. The chocolate will harden and prevent the cake from falling off the stick.

9. Dip the ball into the melted chocolate until the entire surface is covered

10. Optional: We made these cake pops around Halloween and so we used black food dye to make faces and a green tictac to act as the stem. But be as creative as you want at this step.

If you try to make your own cake pops I hope they turn out as delicious and beautiful as ours. It was really fun to get into the kitchen. Even though I don't like pumpkin, I loved eating these. Anyway. I hope you liked this post and I might be doing more baking posts in the future.

Style Highlights: Emma Watson

Emma Watson in Elie Saab [left] and Botegga Veneta [right].

Emma looks stunning in this off-white Elie Saab design. The cut is simple--allowing the delicate details to shine. It truly is an amazing dress. Emma manages not to overwhelm the dress by keeping her makeup and accessories simple.

This Botegga Veneta creation is so unique and fresh. On any other actress it would've probably looked horrible. But there is a certain type of confidence and elegance that Emma possesses that allows her to still look stunning in this dress--even if the bottom half is very reminiscent of a bed sheet. The gold color is really beautiful and Emma copied it with the golden touches to her eye makeup.

Emma Watson in Rafael Lopez [left] and Balmain [right].

Emma looking elegant in black lace and gold. Her hair is loose and tousled to counteract the sleek and classic lines of her dress and accessories. Never one to over accessorize, Emma keeps everything to a minimum and looks stunning. Is it possible for this woman to look horrible?

Time for Emma to sparkle and shine in Balmain dress. It is a young look for a beautiful, young starlet. The asymmetrical cut of the gown adds interest and drama. Emma paired the look with wooden wedges to offset the futuristic look of the dress. Minimal jewelry and slicked back hair--the look is complete!

What do you think of Emma's style? Do you have a favorite look? Tell me in the comments below! Oh, and please don't forget to become a follower for updates of when I post new content. I would be so grateful. And thank you to all my loyal readers who make blogging so much fun.

Essie Nice is Nice Swatch + Review

Another NOTD. It's about time. I recieved this nail polish courtesy of Apothica.com [thank you!] and here is the swatch. It is actually VERY similar to OPI's Rumple's Wiggin'--check out that swatch here--and Essie's Lilacism--I haven't posted the swatch but it's coming soon. You don't need all three. I would only get one.

But even though I have three bottles of essentially the same nail polish. I'm still in LOVE with this color. Lilac is the perfect subtle color for summer, fall, winter, and spring. Maybe I'm a bit biased because purple is my favorite color? But I'm glad that I found a dupe for Rumple's Wiggin' because it was limited edition.

The consistancy is so much better than Borrowed and Blue. It also lasted on my nails for a very long time. Which is an excellent thing because nobody likes chipped nails. No one! I just wish the Essie brushes were bigger...but I think that ship has sailed, no?

Buy Essie's Nice is Nice online or at your local Wal-Mart and Target!

Style Highlights: Emma Watson

In anticipation of the release of the final Harry Potter film [let's have a moment of silence] I decided to blog about Emma Watson's impeccable style over the years. She is not afraid to take chances with style and more often than not, those chances pay off.

Emma Watson in Burberry Prorsum [left] and Rafael Lopez for Atelier Mayer [right].

Emma Watson is the golden girl of fashion. This Burberry Prorsum dress is perfection! The proportions are perfection. The fabric has the danger of looking a little frou frou but the edgy heels and belt, the chic zipper detail, and Emma's smokey eye makeup keep the look in fashion. There is not a thing I would change. As I said earlier, perfection!

Who said that black is depressing? Emma looks the definition of fun, fresh, and content in this stunning lace and feathered cocktail dress. She accented the monochromatic look with a beautiful and bright poppy pin in memory of those who served and died in battle. Very sweet gesture. It's impressive that she looks incredibly elegant and sassy at the same time.

Emma Watson in Azzaro [left] and Haakan [right].

Ruffles, ruffles, and more ruffles. Emma looks so sweet and beautiful in this black and white Azzaro dress. In an effort to counter-act the frilliness of her dress, Emma chose to wear her hair tossed to the side and with no jewelry. She also chose to keep her look very, very neutral and wear simple black pumps. Seeing that dress on the rack, I never could've imagined it looking so modern and fresh. Brava!

This is a different look for Emma. Normally she likes to look approachable and sweet. This Haakan look is a complete 180. Emma sleeked her hair to the sides to give a androgenous and slightly harsher look. Her brows are more defined that usual, although she kept the rest of her look fairly neutral. As is the rest of her outfit with the nude dress and shoes. Beautiful.

Thank you for reading! Please don't forget to check out my second blog, Thoughts of a Fashionista, for movie and book reviews! I've been trying to post over there at least three times a week and I would be so grateful if you checked it out!
